Welcome to our School!
Classes 1 and 2's trip to Blackpool
Animal Olympics at Oak Hill College
Class 2 went to Oak Hill College to compete their inter schools Animal Olympics. They took part in eight different athletic activities and scored points for their team by completing as many activities as possible in a set time. We didn't win but we had a great time and were ready for our dinners after so much exercise!
Trip to Skipton Castle
Class 2 had a brilliant time visiting Skipton Castle!
We stopped off at Billy Bob's on the way home for a play in the barn and an ice cream!
G'day To Australia Day!
Classes 1 and 2 enjoyed their Australia Day on Monday 20th July. Class 2 have been finding out all about Australia this term and had a special day doing Australian activities. All the children came to school dressed in yellow and green and enjoyed activities such as making Digger biscuits and boomerangs, making sun visors and playing Australian games such as Shark attack and hunt the koala. Finally we all enjoyed a barbie. Shame the the weather didn't join in with our Australian theme!
On Friday 3rd July Classes 1 and 2 visited Blackpool Zoo. Class 1 have been looking at living things in science. Class 2 have been finding out about Australia in their topic work and were hoping to find some kangaroos!
A you can see we had a wonderful time.
As part of our science topic on sound we have been listening to the sounds made by different percussion instruments. We read the story 'We're going on a bear hunt' by Michael Rosen and tried to imagine all the sounds in the story. We then chose the instruments we thought recreated the sounds best.
Our recent topic in science has been finding out about electricity. We have learnt about how to be safe using electricity and how electricity works by travelling in a circuit.
Mrs Read gave us a bulb, a battery and two wires and asked us to make the bulb light up. We tried lots of different ways and some of us got very frustrated but we didn't give up. After a lot of trial and error we all had our own "light bulb" moment.
