Our School Council
This year, the School Council are continuing to develop ways of improving the playground and playtime for all pupils. Their first project was to promote the 'Buddy Bench" to help pupils who felt they didn't have friends to play with. This culminated in a special worship time to promote the Buddy Bench led by the School Council.
They are now busy working on ideas to improve playtime activities and the playtime eqipment boxes. Each representative has asked the children in their class about the equipment they would like to have at playtime.
Last year the School Council carried out an audit of the playground and decided on the improvements they would like to improve the outdoor environment. They came up with several excellent ideas and decided the first priority was to create a wildlife and sensory garden where children could sit and appreciate nature.
The School Council wrote to local companies asking for help and had a fantastic response including materials, plants and voluntary help to transform an uninspiring corner of the playground into a n attractive area to enjoy nature.
The children helped with planting. Made a bug hotel and sensory objects to enhance the area. Benches and planters have been purchased with money kindly donated by The Friends of Chatburn School.
School Council have been busy finalising all their work ready to send to our MP for the 'Send my Friend to School' campaign.

The School Council met with our local MP, Nigel Evans.
The children had some very interesting and challenging questions to ask him! He kindly talked to us about his role as an MP, some local issues the children were interested in and about how he engages with the people in his constituency. They got lots of tips from Mr Evans which will help them in their role as members of the School Council and serve their fellow pupils well.
